The Buick returns in midsize luxury sedan class, by producing the Buick Regal for the 2012 market. The Regal comes in three different types; Base, Turbo and GS, but now we’ll review the GS trim. The last time Buick released the Regal GS was back in 2004, which was powered by 240 hp V6. But the time has changed. To get along with G0-Green theme, the GS is now integrated with Ecotec engine.

The 2012 GS’ cabin is roomy and spacious. It can fully carry five adults occupants, supported with comfortable seats. Special for the front seats, the leather-stitched sport seats are well bolstered and heated to pamper the driver and the front passenger. The driver also gets GS’ standard multifunction sport steering wheel. The GS also offers 336-watt 9-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with 5.1 Matrix Surround System. OnStar and XM satellite radio.
At first glance, you won’t find the uniqueness or the difference on the exterior design of the Regal GS. It brings the standard today’s midsize sedans body design, like the Volvo S60 or Lexus IS. However, compared to the other Regal’s trim or the previous GS, the 2012 GS has sportier look. The front air intakes are designed low. The vertical elements and the exhaust outlets of the vehicle are finished in a satin metallic.

The 2012 Buick Regal GS is exclusively powered by Buick’s exclusive Ecotec 2.0 liter direct-injected turbocharged inline-4, equipped with direct injection, continuously variable valve timing, forged steel crankshaft, a twin scroll design turbocharger, and an efficient intercooler system. The engine, with 6-speed manual transmission, can produce 270 hp and 295 lb.-ft. of torque, which is 50 hp stronger than the Turbo trim. This complete package allows the Regal GS to complete the 0-60 mph sprint in 6.7 seconds, nearly two seconds faster than the Regal Turbo. The GS’ fuel efficiency is rated at 21 mpg city/33 mpg highway.

If you’re looking for a simple luxury midsize sedan loaded up with good stuffs inside and a efficientengine, The 2012 Buick Regal GS might be the best choice. But there are still many contenders in its class, like Acura TSX, Lexus IS and Audi A4 S-Line. However, they have their own benefits which the others don’t have.
